The Bloomsbury Hotel: Why You Should Stay Here in London
The Bloomsbury Hotel is a gem in the heart of London. Tucked away on a quiet street in the midst of the hustle and bustle of the city. From the outside, the hotel looks like an old Victorian building, butt once you step inside, you'll be amazed by the modern and stylish interior design. The hotel's decor is inspired by the Bloomsbury Group, a group of writers, artists, and intellectuals who lived and worked in the Bloomsbury district of London in the early 20th century. The hotel's rooms and suites are decorated with furnishings and artwork that reflect the Bloomsbury Group's aesthetic.
I have been to The Coral Room and Dalloway Terrace at The Bloomsbury Hotel many times, and I’ve always wondered what it would be like to stay here, I’m glad I finally got to experience the hotel completely during my stay.
Location:
Brilliantly located in central London. Steps away from British Museum, seconds away from Tottenham Court Road Tube station and easily walkable to Soho, Oxford St, and Covent Garden.
Check in:
The check-in process was seamless. The entry to the hotel is located on the side of the building, not facing the busy street. Some people might try to enter from The Coral Room, which is their bar. Don’t make that mistake.
The hotel has a gorgeous lounge that’s designed like an exclusive members club for guests that are checking in and out of the hotel. It was a very hot day when i checked in and the AC in the lounge was blasting, which made it the perfect sanctuary while waiting for my room to be ready. I highly recommend taking a peek in this space while checking in or out of the hotel
The Suite
I stayed in the Luxury Studio Suite, which is a spacious corner suite with ample natural light. It has a proper writing desk so if you’re like me that often has to work on your laptop while traveling, you can set up a proper work station here.
The design is bold with strong accent color and statement wallpaper. It has a vintage feel with modern surprises. The entry corridor to the suite is where the mini bar and wardrobe are located, providing plenty of space for all your luggage. There is a Dyson hairdryer, which I always like to point out when hotels have it. It is still a mystery to me when luxury hotels don’t update their hairdryers to a Dyson, but I digress.
The bathroom is the star here with its Italian marble complete with a walk-in shower and a free-standing bathtub. It has a double vanity and a little sitting area. The toilet is enclosed in its own space providing additional privacy.
Restaurants + Bars
The Bloomsbury Hotel has not one , but two of the most photographed places in London and they are The Coral Room and Dalloway Terrace. The Coral Room is inspired by the beauty of the original Sir Edwin Lutyens building and designed by Martin Brudnizki. The vivid coral interior is iconic. The Coral Bar is perfect place to grab a cocktail with friends, colleagues, or a date.
Dalloway Terrace needs no introduction as it is one of the most instagram restaurants in London with its ever-changing flower decor. It changes through out the year along with its menu making it a great place to revisit for different experiences. I actually really love the fact that the restaurant is named after Mrs Dalloway, the subject of Virginia Woolf's classic novel. There are quotes from the novel on the walls here as well. I had afternoon tea and dinner here during my stay and both were delicious. Their afternoon tea is actually very reasonably priced for a property like The Bloomsbury Hotel.
Bloomsbury Club Bar is located on the lower level. It has live jazz music on most nights and the menu is inspired by a special deck of Tarot Cards. The set of 14 cocktails correspond to 14 states of mind or being. If you don’t know what to order, ask them to bring out The Cocktail Diviner. you’ll thank me later for this.
Service
Extremely approachable and friendly. The staff all seemed to enjoy being there and engaging with new and returning guests ,especially at the bars. You get the 5 star luxury service without the cold attitude you typically get from traditional luxury hotels.
Why you should stay here
The Bloomsbury Hotel is centrally located and has two of the most popular spots in London, The Coral Room and Dalloway Terrace, making this hotel an easy yes. The staff is friendly and approachable while providing the standard of service you expect from a 5-star hotel. What separates a good luxury hotel from a great one is how the staff makes you feel, and The Bloomsbury succeeded in that department making it the preferred choice over other luxury hotels in the city.
