La Mer Regenerating Serum Review: Why I kept Coming Back to This Serum

Credit: La Mer

I’ve tried hundreds of serums on the market, both expensive and cheap, and this is one I always come back to, along with their original cream. Everytime I talk about La Mer, someone says oh it’s just an overpriced Nivea and it’s bad for you skin blah blah blah, but let me tell you, La Mer has done wonders for my skin and it just works for my skin.

Product Description: Rapidly diminish the look of lines and wrinkles for a regenerated look of youth. With a new Metabolic Ferment and an added dose of Miracle Broth™, this supercharged serum helps skin boost natural collagen and revs up visible renewal. The next (re)generation is here (From their site).

Why I love it

It is extremely soothing on the skin and I visibly can see a difference in the overall texture and complexion of my skin. I try out a lot of products and whenever a product throws off my skin, this is always the serum I go back to get my skin back on track and for some reason, whenever I have some breakouts, this seem to get rid of them very quickly as well.

When i first started using this, it was only $250. The price has now gone up to $400+, which i do find frustrating. it’s like they are raising the price like it’s rent every year. Since it’s nearly double the price than what I used to be, I try to use it sparingly and only at night. It is still one of the best serums I’ve tried.

It has gone through a recent reformulation as well. It now has with a new super plant stem-cell ingredient plus glutathione and niacinamide that helps skin boost its natural metabolic energy and collagen.

I have combination skin that’s also sensitive, and this is perfectly fine on my skin. It has a mikly texture with a very faint clean scent.

Final Thoughts

Since it is a luxury priced item, I recommend you getting a sample first before making the purchase. This is something I’ll always have in my skincare routine. I just hope they don’t raise the price too high because I would love to continue getting this on a regular basis.

SK-II Facial Treatment Essence, the holy grail of essence?

If you’re reading this, you’re probably debating if you should spend over $100 on a treatment essence that’s used as a toner, the short answer is yes. For years, this essence has been a staple in many Asian households way before K beauty was a major player on the US. It visibly soften texture, reduce the appearance of dark spots and fine lines and even the look of skin’s tone, and enhance visible radiance.

I have tried its Missha dupe, but it’s not the same. For those that are saying the dupe is better or equally good are just not ready to spend the money. So what exactly is a “treatment essence”? The easiest way to describe it is it’s a serum treatment in a watery form. It targets and treats the skin like a serum, but you still would want to apply an actual serum after this step before your moisturizer.

What is it: A powerful treatment essence dubbed "Miracle Water" in Asia. Each bottle contains 90% PITERA™, a natural ingredient cultured exclusively in Japan for SK-II. t is the ONE almighty product you need to moisturize, soften and smoothen texture, reduce appearance of dark spots and fine lines due to dryness, enhance radiance, even the look of skin tone, make skin less oily looking and... the list goes on.

My take: 100% worth it! If you’re under 25, I don’t think you need this, but if you’re over 25 and want crystal clear looking skin, this is one product that really changes the way you skin looks. It does have a strange smell that takes awhile to get used so don’t get too turned off by it. Make sure to pad and press this into your skin, don’t just rub it.

I give this A+. Click here to buy.

Is Fresh's floral calming mask with over 1k five-star reviews worth it?

Photo Cred: Fresh

Fresh is a skincare brand that’s been killing it in the “mask” category. I remember using their rose petal mask years ago and in the past 10 years, they ‘ve came out with many different masks that target various skin conditions that are all equally amazing. My favorite is still the Black Tea Instant Perfecting Mask.

What it is: An overnight face mask that is clinically proven to calm signs of sensitivity—such as redness, uneven tone, and rough texture—for an even toned complexion.

My take: I REALLY wanted to love this mask, because the ingredients are clean and the reviews along with all the before/after photos are overwhelmingly positive, but it just didn’t do much for my skin. The right side of my face is more sensitive to my left, I was really looking forward to calming the occasional redness due to sensitivity, but I have yet seen a difference in redness, skin tone, and texture. As an overnight mask, it doesn’t provide much hydration either. I actually saw more difference with Rose Deep Hydration Sleeping Mask and it’s cheaper. It also worked with my sensitive skin as well as providing great overnight hydration.

I am still going to continue using the Floral Recovery Calming Mask till I finish the entire jar. The ingredients are great, if they expand the line with a moisturizer and serum, I would definitely try them. If you are on the line about getting this mask, I suggest you get a sample first before committing to it because it is a bit pricey. They also have plenty of other amazing masks that are all worth a try!

I give it a C+

All about skincare

If you’re reading this, you’re probably wondering why is this travel person writing about skincare? Let me know you why- I’ve always been into skincare ever since I was a teenager. I was obsessed with finding and trying new products that have crazy ingredients. I was trying the bird poop facial, the snail cream, the snake venom all before it became a norm in the skincare world. I even started a small luxury skincare blog that’s caught the attention of many major luxury skincare brands.

I had to give that up after I got a job doing PR for a luxury retailer, because I wasn’t allowed to publicly discuss my opinions on any of the brands we carry, which was pretty much everything on the market.

Travel is my passion and luxury skincare has been my obsession. I hope to share more frequently on products i’ve tried and loved and also ones that i just didn’t care for with you on this section of my site moving forward.

Hope to see you around .

x C
